You see some pretty inventive ways to transport goods when the need is great and the infrastructure isn’t.  Scenes like these are actually commonplace. Although they get their goods to where they need to be it’s obviously hard work. Tanzania is such a land of contrasts. Cities like Dar Es Salaam or Mwanza bustle and hum with all the problems of modern cities while villages smaller than their names struggle just to find drinking water.

One thing we find everywhere we look is how everything is used. Here we talk of repurposing or upcycling. In Tanzania it’s just how things are done. We like to think we fit in well because our work repurposes tools that might otherwise be simply disposed of.
