Michael (centre) is our Project Officer representing the charity in Tanzania. His assistance in Africa has been invaluable since 2017 when he joined the team. We asked him to tell you about himself:

I am Michael Kimaryo, residing and working in Mwanza Tanzania. I was born in 1964 North of Tanzania, in a village just along the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.  My education includes a graduate degree in Resource Assessment/Economics and Post Graduate in Project Planning and Management.

In terms of working experience I served in the Government for eight years which included working as an economist for the department of Youth Development for five years. I then joined the private sector where I worked in various NGOs including in those engaged in youth income generation activities, emergency services in refugee camps, human rights and gender, and policy analysis. Interestingly I attended a workshop organized by TFSR in 1990s where our first President and a Bishop from UK also participated; in Arusha. In the course of tasks ’implementation, I also acquired skills in proposal writing, monitoring and evaluation, project planning and budgeting, training facilitation and community mobilization.

I have a family of three children – a daughter, Laura and two sons Gregory and Edgar. Only Edgar is still at school in secondary school education. Outside working, I am interested in writing papers and books, reading, travelling, and watching football (a good Manchester United fan) in addition to my local team. At home I enjoy keeping flower gardens, listening to radio, having fun with children and doing some physical exercises.
