Only people can build a better world for themselves. To do it they need tools, they need training and they need to be able to live while the training is delivered. We try very hard to send the right tools and to deliver the right training. We work closely with MSTC who are a part of an organisation in Northern Ireland, Tools for Solidarity, who have established a sewing training centre in the same area as our Mwanza workshop. It’s very convenient situation and it’s an excellent use of skills ‘on the ground’ in Tanzania. We also contract our own trainers, of course for what universities might call ‘distance education’. We’d be at a loss without the skills of Dickson Shenkalwa who is an absolute genius with sewing machines.

It’s not all sewing though. Carpenters, fabricators, tin smiths, blacksmiths. So many trades. They all need apprenticeships, training and tools.  We often find we can barely provide. As we approach our Annual General meeting we’d like to let you know we have challenges and we can use your support. Skills in fund raising, technology, education, politics, we have so many hurdles and we’d love to hear from you if you think you can spare a few hours a month to help with the direction of our charity.

If you’re a member, please attend our AGM, if you’re not, consider joining or consider supporting us by purchasing our locally sold garden tools.
