TFSR
Cymru sells a large number of tools that are not requested by our
overseas partners. These are fully refurbished,
sharpened and fitted with new handles where necessary. All these tools are individual
in character and of better
quality than modern tools.
This is our main source of income and we sell them direct from our
workshop, or at events such as the Small-holders
Show in Builth Wells.
We
specialise in tools for green wood-workers, and we have an excellent range of
refurbished billhooks by all the well-known makers from the past. We
do not normally sell these by mail order as all tools are different and
they need to be seen and felt in the hand before buying.

These tools are very popular and at present we are finding it difficult to source enough of them
We are working on this . . . A regular supply could be available from June 2010
All profits from selling these tools will go towards our Project
which will provide training to artisan groups within Tanzania. They
will be taught new skills on the forge, better hardening and finishing techniques,
and helped with marketing their products.
This is a joint project between Lake Zone Artisans, the Small Industries Development Organisation,
and TFSR Cymru.
Preventing Waste. Recycling tools is one of our answers
to the waste economy. We live in an energy-guzzling, consumer society,
too ready to throw things away. In Africa, by contrast people waste very
little.
But what about the skills and energy of ordinary people?
In an African village, development is held back for the want of a few
tools - This is a waste of human potential.
